[bamboo plywood] Silkroad Bamboo Plywood is made of 100% unfinished bamboo containing only 0.0155 ppm of formaldehyde. K&M's bamboo plywood products have a formaldehyde levels 48 times lower than OSHA standards.

Moisture Content: Using ASTM D 4442, Oven Dry Method: 7.8 percent average

Smoke Density: Testing to ASTM E622 where passing is 450 or less, untreated bamboo panels pass with a 45 rating in flaming mode and a 370 rating with fire retardant treated panels.

At a growth rate of 1-inch per day, Silkroad bamboo plywood and veneer come from bamboo stalks that grow to a height of 40 feet with a diameter exceeding six inches, and matures in only four years. Bamboo is a grass and from an environmental standpoint, this is important. Unlike traditional hardwoods, bamboo when harvested does not require replanting. Mature bamboo has an extensive root system that continues to send up new shoots for decades. Our bamboo stalks are grown in a well managed forest in China and certified by the Canadian government's Environmental Choice Program (EcoLogo). Harvesting is done by hand, minimizing the impact on the local environment.
